Thanks to new technology, we now have the option of using dental implants as a standalone tooth replacement or to stabilize restorations like crowns, bridges, and complete and partial dentures.

We are committed to staying current with the most updated techniques to bring you the finest dental care available. Our patients choose Dr. McMaugh because of his experience, training, and hands-on approach. We go beyond the basics to provide you with comprehensive care and the latest in esthetic, restorative, and implant dentistry.

Innovative Dental Implants

Dental implants are a truly remarkable innovation. Until they came along, the only options we had for replacing missing teeth were bridges or removable dentures. These time-tested restorations are still very effective, but they don’t offer the stability of dental implants.

A dental implant consists of a very small titanium post that is surgically placed in your jaw by Dr. McMaugh. Over time, the implant bonds with surrounding bone and tissue so that it actually becomes part of your jaw. Once healing is complete, we restore function by attaching a crown, bridge, or denture to the implant.

Implant-Supported Restorations

Using dental implants, we can stabilize a number of dental restorations:

  • Crowns – If you’re missing one or more teeth, we can use a dental crown anchored by a dental implant. The implant acts as a replacement root, which prevents bone loss and provides support for the crown.
  • Bridges – A bridge is a one-piece unit made up of an artificial tooth secured to adjacent teeth with dental crowns. This fills the space left by a missing tooth, but without any additional support, places stress on surrounding teeth. Now we can use a dental implant to secure the artificial tooth, holding it firmly in place and reducing wear and tear on adjacent teeth.
  • Full or Partial Dentures – The most common complaint with dentures is that they shift and move out of place when speaking or eating. But dental implants can be attached to either full or partial dentures to prevent movement and eliminate embarrassment and discomfort.

In most cases, Dr. McMaugh can place the implant and create the crown, bridge, or dentures right here in our Harleysville dental office. This allows us to monitor the process from start to finish, and eliminates the need for you to go from one office to another. However, we want you to receive the most appropriate treatment possible and, if your situation warrants it, will refer you to a trusted specialist for placement of your implant.

Dear Friends, Due to Covid-19, we have made a lot of changes to the office. We have put in new negative pressure rooms with HEPA filters to keep us all safer as well as many other protocols. We are also slowly catching up on our hygiene appointments. Having just opened up for hygiene the beginning of July, and new protocols, it will take us a while, though. Thank you for your patience during these trying times.
Please stay safe and call us if you have any dental issues or questions.  Take care.
