“I love my job most when I help patients realize that they can receive the treatment they need without fear or discomfort.” - Dr. McMaugh

How often do I need to have my teeth cleaned?

The general recommendation for dental cleanings is once every six months. Some patients may need more frequent cleanings if we find periodontal disease or a tendency to build plaque. Routine teeth cleanings and dental exams also allow Dr. McMaugh and our team to identify and treat problems when they are small and cost less to fix.

Regular dental cleanings and exams are not just a good idea; they are essential if you want to enjoy optimal oral health. When you make routine dental cleanings with your hygienist part a priority, you'll enjoy a lifetime of healthy smiles instead of dental problems that never seem to end.

If you already brush and floss thoroughly at home, you may wonder why professional dental cleanings are necessary. The reason is that even if you’re vigilant about your oral hygiene, your brush and floss alone can't get your teeth as clean as they need to be. Using special instruments, our dental hygienist can get into all the nooks and crannies and remove plaque and tartar that you can’t reach with your toothbrush.

Regular, thorough dental cleanings are the best defense you have against cavities and gum disease. Please call us, and we’ll be happy to get you set up with your next dental cleaning appointment in Harleysville, PA.

Dear Friends, Due to Covid-19, we have made a lot of changes to the office. We have put in new negative pressure rooms with HEPA filters to keep us all safer as well as many other protocols. We are also slowly catching up on our hygiene appointments. Having just opened up for hygiene the beginning of July, and new protocols, it will take us a while, though. Thank you for your patience during these trying times.
Please stay safe and call us if you have any dental issues or questions.  Take care.
