Dental emergencies in Harleysville, PA

It can be difficult to plan ahead for dental emergencies, yet finding a dental office that will be there for you when you need them most can help ease the stress. It is important that your dentist offers same day appointments and extended hours to help accommodate you during your dental emergency. We don’t want you to spend days in pain waiting for an open appointment which is why at William T. McMaugh, DDS in Harleysville, PA 19438 we offer same day appointments and after hour appointments to make sure our patients are taken care of.

Dental Emergencies

Pain – dental pain can be caused by several different issues such as a cracked tooth, severe tooth decay, and impacted wisdom teeth. It can be hard enough to go five minutes in pain let alone a few days, which is why we offer those in pain same day appointments. We will fit you in to at least help relieve some of the pain, and if necessary set up a follow up appointment to fix whatever was causing it.

Lost fillings – though it doesn’t happen often, fillings can come lose and fall out. This is often caused by trauma or biting down on something hard. When you lose a filling it is important to see us as soon as possible to get a temporary filling put in and set up an appointment to put in a new permanent filling. If left unprotected for too long, the tooth can become infected again and lead to severe pain.

Tooth breakage or loss – trauma, poor oral hygiene, and biting down on hard foods can cause a tooth to chip, break, or fall out. It won’t take long for infection to set in so it is vital to see us the same day in order to protect your tooth and oral health. If a tooth falls out, try to place it back in the hole and avoid removing any tissue. Bite down gently to keep it in place until your appointment.
